If there is one thing I have had enough of, it is making religion the scapegoat of nearly all man-made calamity.
I have, for one time too many, watched, read and heard religion being declared the prima of evil. Of creating more disasters than bridging them together.
We have seen the Hindus blaming the Muslims; the Muslims blaming the Jews; the Jews blaming the Muslims back; and atheists (antagonists, the likes) blaming all of the above, for crime, grime and pretty much everything left in between.
As far as I know, and every school of thought points out, no matter what intricate differences lie between different bodies of religion(s), they all strive to carry the message of peace. They stress for tolerance. For patience.
And these are the exact qualities that human nature lacks. In every aspect.
We are not peaceful. We are not tolerant. And we, as hell, are not patient.
And just to make matters worse, we have evil residing within us, as well. Almost an inhumane membrane of the brain that is usually shut away from realisation, but occasionally comes to the fore and engages in all the decision-making for us.
And that streak, has got nothing to do with our beliefs or the lack thereof; because, if benevolence rests with an atheist, it does too with a believer. And, if inhumane practices can arise in a believer, they, therefore, surely should be found in un-believers, too.
If you want a reason to stop believing. Blame religion.
If you are tired of playing God, blame religion.
If you cannot put up with the religious rituals, might as well blame religion, and break ourselves free from all such shackles and go to believing in nothing.
I am not the first blogger in my vicinity to be targeting religion and the lukewarm concern surrounding it; in fact I am the third, and unlike them, I am doing so, from a believer's standpoint.
I have been friends with a lot of people who, unable to put up with what Islam ordained, decided not to follow it at all. I have also found friends, who, in the name of terrorism and violence and the lot, have gone out of believing, only to guiltlessly approach drinking and sex, the very vices religions like Islam prohibit.
Stop blaming religion for what is inside you.
Stop blaming religion for what you do not want to do.
Stop blaming religion to indulge in what you enjoy most.
Just. Stop blaming religion.
It isn't the religion that is at fault.
It isn't the religion that is in ignorance.
It is you.
The human.
The humanity.
The entire civilisation.
Exactly. Finally someone's written something about this.
ReplyDeleteReligion is still one of the main causes of many problems in the world. There is nothing you can say to make me believe otherwise.

ReplyDeleteI hope that nailed it?
And wooh, "It is you. The human." Because as someone said, humans CAN change the world.
Heina. 8-)
talha you just proved my point. Name one problem and I can prove it to you that it is man-made way more than religion-made.
ReplyDeleteAmazing blospost. True to every word.
ReplyDeleteI think people just blame the religion as a whole cause its an easy way out of an argument. In fact, what's happening now is every individual's choice and a weak faith creeps in too.
Once again, loved the post.
